CMS Update: CMS Issues FAQs, Guidance on NF 5-Star Ratings, Staff Counts and Other Issues
Updated: May 1, 2020
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released QSO-20-28-NH (PDF). The memo informs nursing facilities about the following:
Nursing Home Compare website & Nursing Home Five Star Quality Rating System: The inspection domain will not change due to the prioritization and suspension of certain surveys. This is temporary. This ensures the rating system reflects fair information for consumers.
Posting of surveys: CMS will post a list of the surveys conducted and their findings after the prioritization of certain surveys. This will be through a link on the Nursing Home Compare website.
Nursing Home Staff: CMS is publishing a list of the average number of nursing and total staff that work onsite in each nursing home, each day. This information can be used to help direct adequate personal protective equipment and testing to NFs.
Frequently Asked Questions: CMS is releasing a list of FAQs to clarify certain actions related to visitation, surveys, waivers and other guidance.
